Step Into Spring

What did we want?! Endorphins! When did we want them?! The entire month of April!!
For a very worthy cause, staff members from across the company beat the April showers by taking part in our first ever Step Into Spring challenge! Whichever team did the most steps throughout the month (whether on a treadmill, in a field or during a game of Tag) would win the most coveted prize of all: bragging rights.

To start, 3 teams with 7 employees apiece, allocated using a random generator, were tasked with creating their team names and nominating a representative who would report their steps to someone I'm dubbing (for this blog post) The Liaison. The Liaison would then keep all the teams updated on their rank on a weekly basis, boosting competitive streaks and reminding people to donate to our chosen charity (The Kelly Foundation) in the process.
The Kelly Foundation is local to us and supports adults with their mental health. I couldn't say it better than them:
"At The Kelly Foundation, we work to provide early support to prevent crises and help individuals navigate their mental well-being. We seek to support local people with mental health issues by listening and observing in order to understand and then to provide a bespoke support programme."
As it was for charity, everyone really upped their games, both on the stepping and the punny team names, which were:
In-house and Outta Breath
Scrambled Legs
The Ago-Knee of DeFeet

Scrambled Legs gained an early lead thanks to some major steppers on their side, closely followed by In-house and Outta Breath, and The Ago-Knee of DeFeet brought up the rear (guess which team I was in? Not angry, just disappointed.).
And then, a plot twist!
Some latecomers wanted to join the party! To make it fair, the latecomers were asked to pick a team name out of a hat and, because of the teams no longer having an equal amount of members, we changed the scoring system.
Yes, instead of number of steps, we went for average amount of steps over the month. An average still meant it could be boosted by more stepping though, so everyone kept at it with vigour.
Scrambled Legs really did scramble their legs because they were at the top of the league for every weekly update! The true fight was between second and third place, and I am ecstatic (not biased at all) to report that on the last weekly update, The Ago-Knee of DeFeet had overtaken In-house and Outta Breath for second place.

We're still waiting on who won officially being announced at the end of Mental Health Awareness Week, during which we have more fun planned for everyone, but that's a separate post. For now, though, I'm pleased to announce that as of the 30th April, we've raised £118 to add to our ongoing total.
